I think for your industry Angies List is better. Its more for contracting work, and weeds out the cheapskates of Yelp (AL users are more established and have money).

But it certainly helps to get google and yelp reviews because you will rank better in search engines

I use Angie's List, it's awesome. It's the first place I look for contractors there first.

Yelp is a business review website, pretty useful

Almost every business has customers who rate the business, so you know beforehand to choose them to do business with or not

kinda like "word of mouth" online

If you search a business name it comes up in the first results.  Along with the rating, be it one review or 25.
