I can't even afford a fucking tree this year.

What the fuck could a 96 year old in a nursing home want more than just company?    What about my in laws who are well off and have a decorating theme in their house?   Or my parents who live in Hawaii and have everything they want?

I had a bad year.  I have 3 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of pants.  This last month has been entirely spent on credit cards.  Nobody wants to remodel their house in December. 


I feel fucking pissed that I have to get our parents presents.   I texted my father in law because adams mom has a birthday right before Christmas and we are driving 2 hours to surprise her this Dec 22nd and 2 hours back.   He replied "yes she would like a gift"


So I got my parents a gift card to Ruth's Chris which is a washout because they sent us a check for the same amount. 
I ordered his mom a 300 dollar gift certificate for a fancy hotel and spa for her birthday. 
I bought her a cashmere sweater for Xmas.   I bought his father a leather wood carrying bag and fancy slippers for Xmas.  We got his spoiled nephew a 100 dollar metal detector. 


What the fuck could a 96 year old in a nursing home possibly need?   I asked my mother in law and she said she wants a fancy one serving coffee cup machine. 


I can't afford any of this shit.   I'm so over Christmas this year.   Adam and I both agreed to buy each other something small because we are living on credit cards since he lost a big contingency case.  I bought him gym shorts  and a gym shirt.

Meanwhile we don't have enough money to take our clothes to the fucking laundry mat.

If you cant afford this shit, dont buy it! Nobody is expecting you to give them presents beyond your means. You shouldnt feel guilty or obligated to buy expensive presents or something of equivalent value. Return that shit now

Old people dont really give a shit. People with money really dont care about presents. What old people and people with money really do like, are sentimental presents like picture collages, art work, memorabilia (stuff thats relatively cheap, so get creative, blow up a picture and stick it in a $10 walmart frame)

one xmas, I had a friend who was good at caricatures draw up pics of my family members..$25 bucks each. I gave each of them a gift $300+ and the caricature gift..they seemed to love the cheaper gift, talk about it more, and actually got lots of laughs

As for me, im sorta old, I dont get excited about opening presents, so I dont care if its an expensive present or a CD. But I do like watching others open presents. Im sure this applies to old people as well

UTI - Im sure you qualify for some sort of discounted obamacare, go to the hospital/clinic, fill out the paperwork, appear like your destitude, you will get a discounted rate like $50. If its more, they can just bill you

We got the 96 year old a one cup coffee machine.  Keurig. 

I did the exact same thing and got socks, boxers, and 1 shirt.

I spent the most on my nephews, which I don't mind. But my sisters decide they wanted to get for everyone a week before Christmas. I hate that, it's not about the $$$, but the the time it takes to go shopping and find something.

My youngest nephew turns 14 in January, so I buy Christmas and birthday together for him. I got him an X Box One and a 40" Samsung HDTV to go with it. He was surprised to see the TV, it was worth it.

I did do some online shopping, but with a week before Christmas, shipping wasn't guaranteed to be on time, hence the reason why I was upset.

In this day and age..why would anyone want to detect metal? is there really deposits of gold and silver, inches beneath your feet?
